To All Wabanaki Student Artists, Grades 7–12,

nibezun invites Wabanaki youth to submit original artwork for our nibezun Wabanaki Youth Art Contest. We are seeking designs from students in grades 7–12 that reflect and celebrate our mission and work. The selected student’s design will be proudly displayed on our roadside sign, honoring our connection with the next generation of leaders, healers, and artists.

Our Mission Nibezun celebrates culture as medicine, provides an inclusive space for healing, and promotes sustainability for all people and future generations.

About nibezun We work directly with Wabanaki communities across Maine and beyond. Our programs include donating fresh produce from our community garden and orchard, planting traditional medicinal plants along our medicine trail, and sharing maple syrup harvested onsite. We host ceremonies, teach sustainable lifeways, and create inclusive spaces for wellness and cultural healing.

About the Contest Your artwork should reflect nibezun’s mission and our programming, such as ceremony, peacemaking, sustainable lifeways, Wabanaki arts, Wabanaki languages, and wellness. Other ideas you may choose to include are fiddleheads, strawberries, green corn, or Kluskabe, our hero.

This contest is an opportunity to showcase your creativity and vision while deepening the connection between nibezun and Wabanaki youth. You are the seeds of the future, and we look forward to celebrating your voices through art.

For more details, please contact Chelsea Chavaree at chelsea@nibezun.org. Consent forms will be included for any student whose work is selected, in compliance with school and privacy regulations. Submissions can be mailed to nibezun at PO Box 387, Old Town, ME, 04468 or emailed to chelsea@nibezun.org.

Woliwon (Thank you) for sharing your creativity with us,

nibezun Team
