Dear Indian Township School Staff and Community,
It is with deep gratitude and great respect that I share an important update regarding the leadership of Indian Township School.
After eight remarkable years of dedicated service, Principal Molly Newell submitted her resignation, effective Monday, February 16, 2026. We are incredibly proud of everything Molly has accomplished during her tenure and are grateful for the lasting impact she has had on our students, staff, and the broader Passamaquoddy community. Under Molly's leadership, Indian Township School has achieved extraordinary milestones. She embraced bold initiatives like the BARR program, which helped our students excel exponentially in both reading and math — results that were recently reflected in our NWEA scores, where 27 students improved in both subject areas and more students scored at or above grade level than ever before. Perhaps most meaningfully, Molly championed the professional growth of our Passamaquoddy staff members, two of whom have already earned their master’s degrees, with three more on the way and three additional staff members recently accepted into graduate programs.
With that said, I am thrilled and proud to announce that Ms. Dolly Barnes will be stepping into the role of Interim Principal, effective Tuesday, February 17, 2026.
Dolly brings a wealth of knowledge, passion, and dedication to this role, and we are excited to see her lead Indian Township School into this next chapter. Her commitment to our students and community has been evident throughout her time with us, and I have every confidence that she will build upon the strong foundation that has been laid. This is an exciting moment for our school, and I encourage every member of our staff and community to rally around Dolly with the same warmth and support that has always defined the spirit of Indian Township School.
Please join me in thanking Molly Newell for her incredible eight years of service and in welcoming Dolly Barnes as she begins this new and exciting chapter of leadership.
Together, we move forward — with pride, purpose, and the best interests of our students, always at the center of everything we do.
With gratitude and optimism,
Dr. Reza Namin
Superintendent, Maine Indian Education
